Rasasi Hawas: Every Variant Compared, and Which One to Buy
There are twelve Rasasi Hawas variants available in India, and most of them are fresh in slightly different ways, which is exactly why the range is confusing. The short answer: buy Hawas Nautilus if you want the one built for Indian heat, Hawas Black if you want one bottle that works all year, and Hawas Viper if you are buying for wedding season. Everything else in the line is a variation on those three ideas.
Hawas became a cult name because the original did something unusual for its tier: it projected hard, lasted a full working day, and smelled expensive doing it. Rasasi has since extended the line in every direction, and the result is a range where four bottles are near-identical aquatics and three are completely different fragrances wearing the same family name. Below is every one of them, with notes, longevity in hours and projection, and an honest account of which ones overlap.
What is Rasasi Hawas, and why are there so many versions?
Rasasi Hawas is a fresh fruity-aquatic eau de parfum built on apple, bergamot and a salty ambergris-and-driftwood base. The original launched as a men's fragrance and became one of the best-selling Middle Eastern scents in India on the strength of its projection. The flankers exist because each one takes the base structure somewhere specific: cooler, darker, sweeter, more marine or more refined.
That is the useful way to read the range. There is no quality ladder here, no entry version and premium version. There are four or five genuinely distinct ideas, and the rest are temperature adjustments on the same idea.
The three worth buying first
Hawas Nautilus
For Indian summer and the monsoon
Hawas Nautilus is a six-note mineral marine that lasts six to eight hours with moderate projection, and it is the only one in the range with no sweetness in it at all. Sea water and ambergris open it clean and faintly salty, cypress and cedar give it a dry coastal-treeline heart, and it closes on driftwood and warm sand. The reason it matters: the rest of the line collapses into amber as it dries down, and this one stays fresh the whole way. In 34 degrees and high humidity that is the difference between a fragrance you can wear and one you regret by noon.
- Sea water, ambergris
- Cypress, cedar
- Driftwood, warm sand
EDP · 6 to 8 hours · Moderate projection · Summer and monsoon · Office, travel, daily
Hawas Black
The one bottle that covers the whole year
Hawas Black is a fruity-chypre that lasts nine to eleven hours with very strong projection, and it is the hardest-performing fragrance in the range. Pineapple, bergamot and grapefruit open it juicy and zesty, patchouli, cedarwood and jasmine give it an earthy middle, and oakmoss, dry woods and amber close it with the mossy floor that chypres are built on. That oakmoss base is what separates it from the aquatics: it has grip. Fresh enough for a working day, deep enough for an evening. The caution is the projection, which is genuinely heavy in the first hour, so two sprays is the right number.
- Pineapple, bergamot, grapefruit
- Patchouli, cedarwood, jasmine
- Oakmoss, dry woods, amber
EDP · 9 to 11 hours · Very strong projection · All year · Office and evening
Hawas Viper
For wedding season and cold-weather evenings
Hawas Viper is a dark spicy-sweet woody that lasts nine to twelve hours with very strong projection, and it is the only one in the line that is not fresh at all. Saffron, davana and thyme open it sharp and green, then it drops into tobacco, coffee, cinnamon, raspberry and violet, and finishes on gurjan balsam, tonka and musk. It reads as a spiced dessert with smoke running through it. This is not an office fragrance and it is not a daytime one. It is a December wedding fragrance, and in that setting it does something none of the others can.
- Saffron, davana, thyme, green notes
- Tobacco, coffee, cinnamon, raspberry, violet
- Gurjan balsam, tonka bean, musk
EDP · 9 to 12 hours · Very strong projection · Winter · Weddings and festive evenings
All twelve, compared
Tap a filter to narrow the range. Longevity assumes four sprays on skin in Indian conditions of roughly 30 degrees and moderate humidity.

Which Rasasi Hawas should you buy first?
If you have never owned one, buy Hawas Black. It performs harder than anything else in the range, the oakmoss base gives it a structure the aquatics do not have, and it covers both a working day and an evening. The only reason not to start there is if you live somewhere that is hot for nine months of the year, in which case Nautilus is the better first bottle because it has no sweetness to turn cloying.
The honest warning is about overlap. Hawas, Hawas Ice and Hawas Atlantis are close enough that owning two of them is a waste. All three are apple, citrus and a salty driftwood base. Ice is the coolest and sharpest, Atlantis the slightly darker and saltier, and the original sits between them with a touch more fruit. Pick one. Fire is a genuine step away because it is built on clary sage and jasmine rather than apple, and Nautilus is a genuine step away because it drops fruit entirely.
Longevity in Indian conditions runs shorter than any bottle promises. Our explainer on why fragrance fades faster in Indian humidity covers why, and applying to moisturised rather than dry skin adds two to three hours to any of these.
