Davidoff Cool Water

Davidoff Cool Water is a crisp, sea-breeze fragrance for men, and the scent that set the template for almost every fresh masculine fragrance that followed it. Created by Pierre Bourdon in 1988, it opens on cool mint, lavender and sea spray, settles through geranium, neroli and jasmine, and dries down into warm musk, cedar and tobacco. It smells like clean air coming off the water, bracing at first, quietly warm underneath.

This is a daytime workhorse, and it suits Indian weather better than most classics: office days, commutes, college, weekends in the heat. It stays light and refreshing rather than heavy, which is exactly why it still works at 35°C when richer fragrances turn cloying. Is this fragrance right for you?

If you want one uncomplicated fresh fragrance that nobody will object to, Cool Water is the reference point and still one of the best at the job. Be honest about the trade-off: it sits close to the skin and fades faster than most modern designer scents, so a large bottle and a re-spray after lunch is how it is meant to be worn. If you want heavy projection or something sweet and attention-grabbing, this is not that fragrance.

Is the 200ml the same fragrance as the smaller bottles?

Yes. Davidoff Cool Water 200ml is the same Eau de Toilette as the 75ml and 125ml, in the largest bottle Davidoff makes it in. If it is already your daily scent, this is the size that lasts.
