Byredo Collection

7 Byredo fragrances — the Stockholm house that builds scent around memory, not gender.

Byredo is the Swedish niche house that changed what a modern perfume looks like — minimalist glass, magnetic black caps, stark white labels, and inside them some of the most distinctive compositions in contemporary perfumery. This is the Byredo range we stock in India, every bottle authenticated and sold at global prices.

Founded in Stockholm in 2006 by Ben Gorham — a former basketball player with no formal perfumery training and an Indian mother — the house takes its name from "by redolence" and builds each fragrance around a memory or a place rather than a gender. Nothing Byredo makes is sold as men's or women's.

Come to us for:

  • Gypsy Water — bergamot and juniper over pine needle, incense and vanilla. The scent most people meet first.
  • Bal d'Afrique — African marigold and bergamot over Moroccan cedarwood and vetiver. Sunlit and wearable in any month.
  • Mojave Ghost — ambrette and nesberry over magnolia, sandalwood and violet. Soft, creamy and close to the skin.
  • Blanche — aldehydes and rose over musk and sandalwood. The smell of clean linen.
  • Black Saffron — saffron, leather and blonde woods, drawn from Ben Gorham's Indian upbringing.
  • Bibliothèque — plum, cinnamon and leather. Old books on dark wood shelves.

An honest word on performance

Byredo build for artistry rather than projection, and that is the most consistent criticism of the house. Most of the range sits close to the skin and wears moderately — Blanche is the shortest at around two to three hours, Gypsy Water four to six, and Bal d'Afrique the strongest at five to eight. Mojave Ghost varies enormously with skin chemistry. Buy Byredo because you love how it smells, not because you want a scent that fills a room. If projection is what you are after, the Amouage and Parfums de Marly ranges will serve you far better.

Every Byredo bottle passes our 100-point authentication and carries a batch code you can check yourself, sourced through our global retail network and verified before it ships. Byredo is among the most counterfeited niche houses in the world, which is exactly why every product page carries a guide to the four checks you can run on the bottle yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Byredo on Ownly Club authentic?

Yes. Every bottle is genuine, sourced through international retail and checked against our 100-point authentication before dispatch. Each one carries the manufacturer's batch code, which you can run through any independent batch checker yourself, and a Certificate of Authenticity ships in the box. Byredo is heavily counterfeited, so every product page also carries a guide to the four checks you can run on the bottle when it arrives.

Which Byredo should I start with?

Bal d'Afrique is the safest first buy — sunlit, wearable year-round and the strongest performer in the range. Gypsy Water is the most recognised. If you want something less commonly worn, Bibliothèque or Black Saffron are the picks.

Are Byredo fragrances unisex?

Yes. Byredo sells nothing as men's or women's — the whole range is genderless by design, built around woods, musks and clean florals rather than gendered accords.

Do Byredo fragrances last long?

Honestly, not especially. This is the most common criticism of the house, which prioritises artistry over projection. Blanche typically lasts two to three hours, Gypsy Water four to six, and Bal d'Afrique five to eight. Mojave Ghost varies a great deal with skin chemistry. Spraying on clothing as well as skin helps. If you want strong projection and all-day wear, look at Amouage or Parfums de Marly instead.

Which Byredo is best for Indian weather?

Bal d'Afrique and Mojave Ghost are the most heat-friendly — both are light, citrus or musk-led and low on sweetness. Black Saffron and Bibliothèque are richer and better suited to winter and evenings.

What is the difference between the 50ml and 100ml bottles?

Only the volume — the fragrance is identical. The 100ml works out cheaper per millilitre, which is why it is the size we stock first.

How does delivery work in India?

Byredo is sourced to order, so your delivery window shows on the product page and at checkout. Every order ships only after it clears authentication.

Can I return a perfume?

Yes, within 15 days, provided the product is unopened and unused. If a bottle arrives broken or incorrect, report it within 48 to 72 hours and we will replace or refund it.
